Vera Röhm befasst sich seit Beginn der 1980er Jahre in ihrer künstlerischen Arbeit mit der visuellen Darstellung von Raum und Zeit, die sie häufig in textuellen Arbeiten umsetzt. Für „Blickachsen 7“ hat sie eine poetische Textarbeit entworfen, die sich auf das natürliche Umfeld der Parklandschaften und den Kreislauf der Natur aus Entstehen, Werden und Vergehen bezieht. Zugleich rekurriert sie auf das Ausstellungsthema der Blickachsen. Für den Kurparkweiher und den Schlossparkweiher hat die Künstlerin Textfragmente aus Ovids in seinen Metamorphosen enthaltener Erzählung über „Narcissus und Echo“ ausgewählt, die nun in großen gelben Lettern auf dem Wasser der Weiher schwimmen und den Besucher dazu anregen, sich – wie Narcissus – in die Betrachtung der Wasserfläche zu vertiefen. Durch die anamorphotische Verzerrung des flach auf dem Wasserspiegel ausgedehnten Textes können die Buchstaben nur aus einer bestimmten Perspektive als Text gelesen werden kann. Die Künstlerin selbst kommentiert ihre Arbeit mit den Worten: „Ein Spaziergang im Park ist mit Verweilen, Schauen, Bewegen verbunden. Wasser ist nicht nur ein Element der Natur, es besitzt auch physikalische Phänomene – der Himmel, die Sterne, die Bäume spiegeln sich im Wasser – auch der Mensch.“
Since the early 1980’s Vera Röhm’s artistic work has been concerned with the visual representation of space and time, which she frequently translates into textual forms. For ”Blickachsen 7” she has designed a poetic text work related not only to the natural surroundings of the park landscape and to the natural cycle of coming into being, becoming and passing away, but also to the thematic of the ”Blickachsen” exhibition itself. For the ponds of the Kurpark and the castle gardens she has chosen specific text fragments from Ovid’s story of ”Narcissus and Echo” in Metamorphoses, which now float in large yellow letters on the surface of the pond water, encouraging the visitor – like Narcissus – to sink into a contemplation of it. Through the anamorphic distortion of the letters laid out flat on the water, they can only be read as text from a specific perspective. The artist herself comments on the work: ”A walk in the park is connected with passing the time, looking around, moving. Water is not only an element in nature, it also possesses physical phenomena – the sky, the stars, the trees are reflected in the water – as are people.“
